History

The residential town is in an area once prone to flooding. But work to rectify the problem was carried out and Lockleys is now set on a bend in the river. Its location means it is a haven for garden lovers with its rich soil and market gardens.

In the 1940s. Adelaide experienced major growth and towns like Lockleys saw a surge in numbers. There was a boom in residential development and a school was established in 1950.
