The coastal suburb of Hallett Cove is situated south of Adelaide within the local government area of the City of Marion. The Hallett Cove Shopping Centre has recently been redeveloped and attracts shoppers from across the suburb and beyond. The area has a population of over 12,000 people.

History

The area is named after John Hallett who first discovered the area in 1837 when he had been searching for some stray animals. Hallett Cove is an area of historical interest because of several clearly defined glacial striations. The Hallett Cove Conservation Park is also nearby with historical Aboriginal items.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The suburb has several areas of natural beauty and a long sandy beach. There are 3 schools in the area including the Hallett Cove South School which is the oldest one in the suburb. There are plenty of shops at the Hallett Cove and Marion Shopping Centres.

Transport is provided by a regular bus service and the Adelaide Metro that runs through the suburb. Access to the major road networks is via a good road system and the old railway line is now a combined cycle and walkway route.
