The town of Elizabeth East is one of Adelaide’s northern suburbs. It is in the City of Playford and it has a population of 4,250 people.

History

Elizabeth East is one of the suburbs that used to make up the City of Elizabeth. It was established in 1955 and named after Queen Elizabeth II.

Most of the area at that time used to be farmland. But after the Second World War, the state government decided it should become more industrial.

A major housing development programme began. It saw the creation of the City of Elizabeth and the City of Munno Para. In the late 1990s, the two merged to create the City of Playford, which was then further subdivided.
