Craigmore is a large suburb north of Adelaide. Located in the City of Playford local government area just east of Elizabeth and south of Gawler, it has a population of over 10,000.

History

The suburb sits in the traditional territory of the Aboriginal Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. Europeans settled in the area in 1855 after Blair Farm was constructed north of Uley Road.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the suburb saw modern development with the building of State Housing Trust estates. In 1975, the southeastern area was built as a private development called Blair Park. Further developments in the next few decades made Craigmore one of Adelaide’s longest suburbs by distance, totalling 3.75km.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Craigmore is home to a High School that opened in 1970 and a number or public primary schools. It also has a shopping centre with a Coles Supermarket, an award-winning bakery, and many speciality shops.
