Visitors to the beautiful and safe sandy beach are watched over during bank holidays and weekends by the Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club.
History
The original Brighton Jetty was constructed in 1886 and stood up to the weather and the sea for over a century. Following the winter storms of 1994 it was badly damaged and funds for a rebuilding project were sourced from a mobile phone service provider. There is a commemorative drinking fountain at the jetty entrance in memory of Kathleen Duncan Whyte. Anzac day services are held at the shore end of the jetty where a war memorial arch has been constructed.
