Beverley is a suburb found in the western part of Adelaide. It’s part of the City of Charles Sturt local government area, and has a population of more than 1,300.

History

Beverley was founded in the 19th century, and quickly absorbed the neighbouring suburb of York. Beverley’s main industries included brickworks and fertiliser production. Although some businesses remain, the area has become largely residential. The Beverley Post Office opened in 1881, and closed 20 years later in 1901.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The most famous attraction in Beverley is the Adelaide Arena. It’s gone through many names since 1991, and is currently known as the Titanium Security Arena. The venue is mainly a basketball stadium, although it’s also used for gigs and other events. Adelaide Lightning and the Adelaide 69ers both ply their trade here.

The Halfway Hotel is on Beverley’s northern border with Kilkenny, and is a great spot for a family meal. Various other restaurants and shops are dotted about the suburb. Beverley is well placed for access to the rest of Adelaide, and it’s known for its many picturesque houses.
