History

Thanks to its fertile land, Wynnum West began as a European farming settlement in the 1860s. It remained a small, rural community for decades, bearing little change until after the Second World War. Development in the latter half of the 20th century caused a population explosion, and the suburb is now a thriving residential area.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The Wynnum Plaza Shopping Centre is the major draw around here. It houses over 60 stores, ranging from small boutiques to major national chains. For some lush tranquillity, Durrington Park and Edward Kelly Park are always safe bets. The Bayside Heritage Train Park is a wonderful place to take the kids, so Wynnum West has a little bit of everything.
