Springwood is a centre of activity in Logan City. The suburb has a population of 8,990.

History

Before Europeans arrived, the area was home to people from the Jaggera and Yugambeh language groups. The modern suburb was developed when the South East Freeway was built to connect Logan City with Brisbane.

Construction was scheduled to finish in 1972. However, it was not completed until over a decade later. The project was finally finished in 1985. Logan City Council and the Queensland government have proposed the redevelopment of the suburb.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Springwood’s town centre is the focus of local commercial activity. It sits in the suburb’s north-west, along the Pacific Motorway. The suburb is also home to three shopping malls, as well as a 24-hour McDonald’s.

The suburb also houses a campus of Calvary Christian College. It also has several schools and places of worship. Most of the residents are baby boomers.
