Springfield Lakes is a suburb in the City of Ipswich, QLD. 32.7km south-west of Brisbane CBD, it has a population of over 14,000.

History

Springfield Lakes is one of the suburbs created in Greater Springfield. This is a 2,850-hectare site and is the largest master planned community in Australia. The community is more than half the size of Cairns.

Springfield Lakes was created in order to reduce growth along the Brisbane-Gold Coast corridor in South East Queensland.

The Centenary Motorway forms the north-western boundary and the Springfield railway line runs parallel, north of the highway.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The suburb was developed by Lend Lease, a multinational property and infrastructure company, as a group of small villages.

The suburb is serviced by bus route 522 and has access to rail services. The northern part is serviced by Springfield railway station and the southern by Springfield Central railway station. This station is across from Orion Springfield Central shopping centre.
