Akes family was one of the original settlers in the Southport area. We are proud of the history of past and present generations of the family, dating back to the mid-1800s. After returning from the First World War in 1919, the original Robert Akes and his brother established the Akes Brothers Plumbers in Southport. Following this, the business was taken forward by successive generations of the family. Grandfather of the current generation Akes family remained active in the firm until the 1960s. After him, Robert (now retired) also took up the trade from the 1940s to 1990.
