Redland Bay is part of the Redland City government area. It is 35km from Brisbane in a south-easterly direction. It has a population of 13,624.

History

From the mid-19th to the mid-20th century fishing and farming were prevalent in the area. In the beginning, horse-drawn carts were used to take goods to market. Steamboats took over later.

However, as transport links improved it became easier for commuters to make the journey to and from Brisbane. This pushed farming out in favour of urbanisation.
