Parrearra is a suburb of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. It sits on the Mooloolah River, bordered by canals. Parrearra comes under the Sunshine Coast Region local government area, and has a population of more than 4,300.

History

Parrearra gained its name in 1967. It derives from Aboriginal word thought to refer to the length of a river. It’s been steadily developed ever since, with the eastern and western parts of the suburb worked in the 1980s and 90s respectively.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Situated very close to the coast, Parrearra enjoys a lot of tourism. Green Zebra Restaurant & Bar is a waterfront eatery located in the suburb, and there are plenty more venues in and around the area. A shopping hub is based in Minyama, just past Parrearra’s eastern border. To the west lies the enormous Mooloolah River National Park, which offers nature trails and a huge range of protected flora and fauna.
