History

Sat between the Oxley and Blunder Creeks, Pallara was settled by Europeans in the 19th century. It was divided into farmland allotments in 1892, many of which still remain. The name “Pallara” is Aboriginal, thought to mean “flat country”. Largely undeveloped even to this day, Pallara only received electricity in 1961. Pallara State Primary School opened in 1959, which another school announced in 2013. In 1997, work commenced on transforming a nearby dumpsite into the Pallara Parklands.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Pallara is a peaceful, scenic suburb that’s perfect for quiet living. Sweets Road Park, Pallara Park and Brookbent Road Park are situated at the suburb’s north. Paradise Road Park is found over on the western border. Pallara has few shops, but it borders on several more developed suburbs. These include Heathwood, Doolandella, Algester and Willawong.
