Nundah is an inner suburb of Brisbane. It sits just 8km from the city’s central business district. The suburb has a population of 10,386.

History

The suburb started life as German Station. The first European settlers were Lutheran missionaries. They arrived in 1838. Before that, the area was home to the Aboriginal Turrbal tribe. More and more settlers moved into the area in the 19th century.

The area was primarily agricultural until the 1880s. In 1882, a railway line was built through the area. The station was named German, to avoid calling it German Station Station. It was soon renamed Nundah. This name comes from the native name for the area. The suburb declined in the 1970s but saw a renewal in the 2000s.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Nundah is home to the Toombul District Cricket Club. The suburb has many parks, schools and churches. Local landmarks include Schulz Canal and Centro Toombul Shopping Centre.
