Based in Queensland, Nerang is a suburb on the Gold Coast. It lies on the Nerang River sits in the state electorate of Gaven. According to the 2011 census, Nerang has a population of over 16,256 people.

History

In 1865, surveys carried out a town survey. In 1871, land was first sold. In the same year, Daily Cobb & Co began to run regular coach services from Brisbane. As a result, river transport to and from the area became more consistent.

The area was home to a large supply of red cedar. As a result, a timber cutting industry grew in the area. Along the upper parts of the Nerang River, farmers grew maize and sugar.

In 1875, the area opened the Nerang State School In 1887, the town launched a railway line.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

These days, Nerang is a bustling suburb. Sports is a major part of the community. Locals support the Nerang Rooster and the Nerang Bulls RUC. Home games are played at Robert Dalley Park.
