Murgon is a suburb in the South Burnett region of Queensland. It is 270km from Brisbane, the state’s capital, and its population is 2,092.
History
Murgon’s post office opened in 1908, and the foundation stone of the Murgon War Memorial was laid in 1920. Murgon is also home to the famous fossil site of a vertebrate fauna that dates back more than 55 million years.

Murgon is located inland, and is just a short drive away from the Wondai State Forest and Cherbourg Conservation Park. The area has a golf club, the Murgon Golf Club, and the main street has a post office, banks, and a supermarket. The Murgon RSL and Murgon Royal Hotel are popular places for locals to enjoy a drink.
