Mountain Creek is a suburb in Queensland on the Sunshine Coast, 8km south of Maroochydore. It forms part of the Buderim urban centre and has a population of over 6,000.

History

The suburb of Mountain Creek was named after the watercourse with the same name that drains the southern slopes of the Buderim plateau. It flows into the Mooloolah River above the Traffic Bridge and the Cod Hole on the Nicklin Way, a major road in the Sunshine Coast area.

Mountain Creek was formally named in 1986. Large areas of the suburb which adjoin Sunshine Motorway where it meets Kawana Way are still mostly undeveloped.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The district has two primary schools (one east of the locality), Mountain Creek State High School, and the Cooloola Sunshine TAFE.

It is also home to Mountain Creek Shopping Village and there are more shopping facilities in Mooloolaba and at Kawana Shopping World.
