History
Ludwig Leichhardt became the first European explorer in Moranbah in 1845. But it wasn’t until 1969 that the town was formally established. Through the 1970s, Moranbah was further developed and expanded to provide homes for coal mine workers. In 1971, a post office was opened in Moranbah.
