Middle Ridge is an outer residential suburb of Toowoomba, 6km south-southeast from the city centre. It has a population of over 6,500.

History

The district was originally known as German Settlement. The suburb was named due to its location as the area between the East and West Creeks in the 1860s. This was where teamsters who were camped at Toowoomba turned their teams loose to graze.

By the early 1900s, the school in Middle Ridge served a large district with an enrolment of 160 students.

Due to it being on the periphery of urban Toowoomba, it was chosen as the site of the Methodist Epworth care complex and as the site of the Toowoomba Golf Course in 1926.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Middle Ridge has shops at the corner of Stenner and Spring Streets. It is also home to the Echo Valley Motor Sport Complex, the Valleys Rugby League club, and the Gabbinbar homestead, a heritage-listed villa.
