Jondaryan is a small rural village in Queensland. It’s found in the Toowoomba Region, and forms part of same local government area. Jondaryan has a population of more than 370.

History

A peaceful farming hamlet, Jondaryan was surveyed in 1871. It’s named for an old pastoral run on the same site, with the word “Jondaryan” meaning “long way off”.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Jondaryan provides an idyllic glimpse into Toowoomba’s history. It has several heritage-listed sites, including Jondaryan Homestead and St Anne’s Anglican Church. The most famous, however, is undoubtedly the Jondaryan Woolshed. It’s a shearing shed built in 1860, and has an eventful past involving labour conflicts, strikes and fires. Tours of the Woolshed are provided, and the location also features a museum and a restaurant. The Jackie Howe Festival is also held here every September. Elsewhere in the town, the friendly old pub is still going strong, as is the Cobb & Co. Roadhouse.
