Jimboomba is a developing town located 41km south of Brisbane in the local government area of Logan City. It has a population of over 11,000 people but it’s expected that ongoing development will see this rise sharply in future years.

History

Jimboomba’s name comes from a Gugingin word meaning ‘place of loud thunder and little rain’. It was named after a livestock station which was established on the land where the town now stands today.

The area was once serviced by the Beaudesert railway line but this was closed in 1995. It was re-established as a tourist attraction in 1994 but was again closed, this time permanently in 2004.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Jimboomba is set to become a major residential area and as such, has a large number of facilities and shopping areas to service the growing population. The Flagstone housing development project alone is predicted to provide homes for up to 120,000 people.
