History

The suburb is named after the Hamilton Hotel. The hotel was owned by someone called Hamilton, and one of the people staying there was married to a man of the same name.
Hamilton has a World War One war memorial that was put up in 1931. Both residential and commercial sectors of the suburb have grown a lot since a cruise ship terminal was developed in the area.

Hamilton is home to the Portside Wharf. The wharf welcomes international cruises, and there are houses and shops here. Hamilton has a lot of heritage-listed buildings. You can also get a good view of the Central Business District of Brisbane from Hamilton.
