Forest Lake is a suburb that is around 19 kilometres from Brisbane’s central business district. The area has won many awards for its design and has an estimated population of over 22,400.

History

A named called Henry Farley built a house in the 1870s on land that is now known as Homestead Park. Sadly, it was destroyed by a fire in the 1930s.

Forest Lake was also used as an encampment by American soldiers during World War II. It wasn’t until 1991 when Forest Lake was first properly developed. The last block of land was sold in 2006.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The area of Forest Lake is split into villages. In addition to these developments, there is a retirement village and the Prima on Grand apartments that join onto the Forest Lake Shopping Centre.

Forest Lake is best known for its recreational lake that has a perimeter of 2.7 kilometres. Local sports facilities include netball, tennis, swimming, cricket and Australian rules football to name a few.
