Based in Queensland, Elimbah is a town in the Moreton Bay Region. With a population of over 3,700 people, Elimbah is north of Caboolture.

History

The Kabi people are the original inhabitants of Elimbah, which was known as “the place of the grey water snake”. Once European settlers arrived, Elimbah became a place for teamsters to camp while resting their horses. In 1902, the town was officially named Elimbah.

During the 1920s and 30s, unsuccessful farms were replanted. In 1924, the post office noted that there were 50 farmers, 40 of whom were fruit growers. However, by 1949, only 12 farmers identified themselves as fruit growers.

These days, Elimbah is a quiet rural town, with State Forest pine plantations to the north. The town has all the necessary facilities for locals, including a primary school, memorial hall, and church. The Queensland Rail City network services Elimbah train station.
