Callemondah is a suburb of Gladstone, Queensland. It’s a completely industrial area, with a population of just 49. Callemondah falls under the City of Gladstone local government area.

History

Like its fellow Gladstone suburbs, Callemondah boomed in the 1960s and 70s. Development hit the area hard, turning it into the hub of industry it is today. Along with the neighbouring Barney Point, Callemondah is Gladstone’s main industrial centre. It’s bordered by Gladstone Airport, which sits in the suburb of Clinton.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Callemondah is home to many businesses and facilities. It’s sliced in half by the Calliope River, with much of the industry found on the east side. Callemondah features a harbour, power plant, railway yard and coal stockpiles. It also has storage facilities, a sewage treatment plant and machine shops. The Gladstone Marine Campus is based here as well. Spinnaker Park dwells at the north of the suburb, gazing out over the nearby islands. The park boasts a good cafe, which offers great views of the coast. The Byellee Wildlife Reserve is just a short distance from Callemondah.
