FAQs
There is more to a healthy pair of eyes than just a clear vision!
An appointment at Michael Chu Optometrist not only includes checking the clarity of your vision but also the health of your eyes. Michael checks for common eye diseases such as cataracts, macular degeneration and glaucoma. These are non-invasive tests which take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Additionally where possible the tests are bulk-billed to Medicare
Do you want the freedom of not having to wear glasses?
Contact lenses may be an option worth considering. Contact Lenses are not as expensive as you may think and there are many options available.
So feel free to contact us to make an appointment to see Michael so we can organise a contact lens appointment. We can also organise a free pair for you to try if you are a first time wearer and unsure if contacts are for you. Consultation fees may apply.
We believe that everyone should own a pair of good quality sunglasses ideally polarised!
To take advantage of our outdoors lifestyle and diverse range of outdoor activities here in the North Queensland tropics, don't let the fact that you need vision correction stop you enjoying all that this area offers. We have all the options for your prescription sunglasses.
Come & see our experienced staff and let us discuss what is best suited for your individual needs.

The eye exam involves a comprehensive eye health and prescription check.
The most common visual problems with children are short sightedness, long sightedness and astigmatism.
Yes, in fact ensuring your child's vision is accurate will play a large part in their growth and development.
Your eyes should be examined by an optometrist at least once every two years. If you are a contact lens wearer, then your eyes should be examined every 12 months to ensure that the lenses are still fitting correctly and that they are providing you with the best vision possible.
