Based in Queensland, Brookfield is a suburb in Brisbane. It lies 13km west of Brisbane’s Central Business District. According to the 2011 census, Brookfield has a population of over 3,700.

History

The Jagera and Turrbal tribes are the original inhabitants of Brisbane and Brookfield.

The area initially went by the name of Moggill Creek. In the 1970s, the suburb changed its name to Brookfield, to avoid confusion with the suburb of Moggill. In 1869, Brookfield experienced an influx of logger and farmers. The area developed and opened the Brookfield State School in 1874. In 1876, Brookfield built its first post office.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Every year, Brookfield holds a formal ball with hundreds of people in attendance. The Brookfield Show is another popular event. This agricultural show happens every year and lasts for three days. Entertainment includes food stalls, live music, rodeo, and fireworks.
