History

Broadbeach Waters is mostly residential. Many of the houses are built on man-made canals, where there used to be dairy farms. The Florida Gardens project was announced in 1956. The first two canal estates were Miami Keys and Rio Vista. The project involved moving large amounts of sand onto low-lying land. This housing project has made Broadbeach Waters a very popular place to live. Recent rail links connect the area to the local hospital.
