The Story Behind the Craft:

The spirit of Penfolds Jewellers begins with the journey of Ken Penfold. On 5 May 1964, Ken left his hometown of Warwick, QLD, and hopped onto a bus bound for Brisbane, QLD. Out of nearly 400 applicants, he was selected for a coveted apprenticeship with the esteemed Wallace Bishop company. 

There, he trained under master jewellers, gaining vital hands-on experience at more than twenty specialised workbenches, each revealing different facets of traditional and modern jewellery techniques.

His journey led him through some of Brisbane, QLD’s, most respected jewellery houses before acquiring a diamond wholesaling business in 1972. This step into the broader industry would eventually pave the way for the founding of Penfolds Jewellers, a name that is now renowned across Australia and across the globe for authenticity and service.
