Dr. C. Wong MBBS (Qld), FACCS graduated from the university of Queensland in 1993. He was a surgical trainee with the royal Australasian college of surgeons. He has a special interest in performing various surgical procedures & gained his surgical experience from working in many Queensland hospitals between 1994 to 2001.

Brisbane Vasectomy and Circumcision Clinic

In our clinic we combine the advantages of both no scalpel & open ended techniques.  Dr Wong has performed thousands of vasectomies to find a technique which is less traumatic.  He can access both vas deferens (sperm tubes) with ONE single entry in the centre.  Using the open ended technique, there is less chances of post operative congestion discomfort and it is just as effective.  We strive to provide high quality medical service for men in Brisbane.

Circumcision Services - Newborns & Adults.  Dr. Wong is experienced to perform circumcision procedures using all three commonly used methods.  Our friendly staff will assist with your enquiries regarding this procedure.

Making an appointment

Vasectomy in general is a safe and simple procedure. There are even fewer complications associated with no scalpel open ended vasectomy technique. Most post operative complications of vasectomy are minor and can be treated with mild (not aspirin) pain killers and local applications of ice.  Make an initial consultation with Dr. Chi Hong WONG by calling reception on 07 38899120.  Initial consultation is $69 (Medicare Rebate available).  The procedure is $500 (Medicare Rebate approximately $197)

Fee for circumcision for newborns start from $550 and adults $770 to $990.

Getting ready for your procedure

With the no scalpel technique, there is less bleeding & no stitches are required to close the tiny opening. Healing is quicker & faster with minimal bruising & discomfort. The open ended technique is just as effective & does not lead to a higher failure rate.  Please shave the scrotal region 2 days prior to procedure.  Have a shower and light meal before your procedure (it is easily done under local anaesthestics).  Please bring 1 packet of frozen peas and firm underwear on the day of surgery.

FAQs

  • 1. What type of Vasectomy do we offer?

Dr. Wong performs the no scalpel, open ended, single hole entry vasectomy. This means there is only 1 entry point in the front, rather than 2 entry points, one on each side. The open ended technique is to prevent post vasectomy congestion syndrome.

  • 2. How much does Vasectomy cost?

The initial consultation is $65 (Medicare rebate is $37). The procedure is $500 ($100 booking fee and $400 balance on day of surgery). The medicare rebate for vasectomy is $198 approximately. (as at Jan 2019)

  • 3. Who are suitable for Vasectomy procedure?

Adult males who have completed their families and seeking permanent contraception option can consider vasectomy. You should make an initial consultation to see Dr Wong first, he will assess you during physical examination to ensure you are suitable.

  • 4. Can I reverse Vasectomy procedure?

It is possible to reverse vasectomy procedure, however it is expensive and the success rates with vasectomy reversal range from about 40 percent to over 90 percent. Many factors affect whether a reversal is successful in achieving pregnancy, including time since a vasectomy, partner age, definition of success, and surgeon experience and training.

  • Are there any preparations for vasectomy?

Please have a shower and light meal prior to the procedure. We advise that you shave the scrotal area 2 days prior, bring a packet of frozen peas and firm underwear to use afterwards.

  • Do I have to take days off my work?

Generally we advise to avoid heavy lifting for 2 weeks post operative period. If you perform general administrative duties or desk work, you may not need to take much time off work. We advise not to submerge the wound in water (swimming) for a period of 2-3 weeks afterwards to avoid infection. Shower is okay.

  • When can I stop using contraception?

We advise that you continue to use contraception after a vasectomy until you submit a satisfactory specimen to prove the procedure had been effective. You can submit a seminal analysis to pathology company of your choice - this can be done when a minimum of 3 months have elapsed, PLUS 40 or more ejaculations had occurred (to clear the tubes). A perfect specimen is when there are no sperms (live or dead). If you have not cleared your tubes, your specimen may show dead sperms.

  • Will vasectomy affect my sex drive?

There are no evidence to show vasectomy will affect sex drive or sexual performance.
