History

Bli Bli got its first school in 1901, and a post office in 1903. The wetland area bordering the town was once used for the sugarcane industry. This brought money to this particular part of the Sunshine Coast. The area is now a protected green space. The name Bli Bli is thought to have come from the word for sheoak tree in Kabi dialect.
