Beachmere is a town and locality in the Moreton Bay Region, Queensland. It is 38 kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD. It has a population of over 3,800.

History

Moreton Bay was formed roughly 6000 years ago. The sea level rose and inundated the floodplains of the Brisbane River.

The area was once home to a number of Indigenous groups. These included the Kuanpal, Ngugi and Nunukul people. European settlement of the area began in 1824.

The origin of Beachmere’s name is an early residence owned by settler P. Gonney. It was called ‘Beachmere’, meaning ‘a beach upon marshy ground’.

Beachmere has beautiful scenery. This includes popular beaches and mangrove areas.

Most Beachmere residents were born in Australia (78.8%). Most spoke only English at home (93.2%). England (6.4%) and New Zealand (3.5%) were the birthplaces of most other residents

There are two primary schools in Beachmere. Beachmere State School and the Moreton Bay Birali Steiner School. The latter opened in 2013 and is part of Steiner Education Australia. The nearest high schools are in neighbouring towns. These include Caboolture, Morayfield, and Bongaree on Bribie Island.
