The suburb of Alexandra Headland is located on the Sunshine Coast and the home of the Alexandra Surf Lifesaving Club is located on the beach. The area is mainly a resort and it has one of the shortest beaches in the Maroochydore district. There is a population of almost 4,000 people.

History

The region was named Potts Point after landowner John Potts. It was later changed in honour of Queen Alexandra in 1901. The earliest use of the area was for the timber industry. Bullocks were harnessed to move logs across to the timber depot at Mooloolaba.

The area was subdivided in 1915 and locals started building seaside cottages during the 1920’s. This was the beginnings of what is now a popular resort. The resort has steadily grown over the years and it now provides a full range of facilities.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Alexandra Headland has a bowling alley and several restaurants. It is situated on a rocky headland between the river estuaries of the Mooloolah and Maroochy rivers. The area is ideal for surfers. English is the most commonly spoken language in the area and
