History

Acacia Ridge’s name stems from the large number of native acacia flowers in the area. The suburb was established after World War II, and was made to house returning servicemen and their families. Today, many of the post-war homes still stand.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Acacia Ridge is mainly a residential and industrial suburb. However, it is still home to a variety of interesting spots. With post-war architecture and heritage-listed Acacia Ridge Air Raid Shelter, the suburb is a history lover’s dream. Acacia Ridge also has one of Brisbane’s very few ice skating rinks, making it the perfect spot for a weekday or weekend adventure.
