Yamba is found at the mouth of the Clarence River in the north of New South Wales. It has a population of 6,032.

History

Yamba was first called Shoal Bay, but its name was changed in 1885. In the 1830s timber began to be harvested in Yamba. One of the earliest lifesaving clubs in the world, The Yamba Surf Lifesaving Club was set up 1908. In the 1930s, Yamba was connected to surrounding areas by a railway line at the nearby town of Grafton. This helped to boost tourism greatly.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Yamba is a fantastic spot for beach lovers with 11 different ones to choose from. At certain times of year whales can be spotted at the northern end of Pippi Beach. Dolphins are abundant in the Yamba area, and you’ll often see them quite close in to the shore.
