Located in the Northern Suburbs of Sydney, Westleigh caters for every generation. It lies 27km north-west of Sydney’s CBD and has a population of 4,481.

History

Westleigh is named due to its geographical location – west of Thornleigh. The area was initially used as a training ground for WWI soldiers. The area was initially semi-rural with citrus orchards and a motorbike/trail bike riding school. A few homes were built on the road towards the Blackfellow’s Head sandstone quarry.

The suburb was first developed as a residential area in 1967. Many of the streets take their names from Australian plant and tree species.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Westleigh is surrounded by national park and bushland. It is a popular place to live for both the younger and older generations, with a mixture of modern and character housing.

There are many parks in the area, the most popular being Ruddock Park. It offers great facilities including soccer pitches, BBQs, picnic tables, a playground and tennis courts. Elouera National Park has many bushwalking tracks and mountain biking trails.
