History
Warren was first discovered by explorer John Oxley in 1818. The town was established in 1845. Development has continued since and the area has a history of growing wool and cotton.
Development began with the opening of a post office in 1861. A bootmaker’s shop, a school, a store and a church soon followed.
Lifestyle and Entertainment
Sport and leisure play a large role in Warren’s development. Running since 1898, Warren Gun Club attracts shooters from across New South Wales.
Warren is also home to a popular racecourse. The Warren Jockey Club is host to four major race meetings every year. The Warren Weekly is a newspaper featuring local news and events.
