Warrawong is located in the north-east corner of Lake IIlawarra and is a suburb of Wollongong. It is very close to Shellharbour and has a population of over 5,000.

History

The word Warrawong comes from the aboriginal people and its two meanings are “a whiting” and the “side of the hill.” The area was used for farming for many years when the first land grants were made in 1815.

Houses were built in Warrawong in the 1930s.

The shopping in Warrawong is excellent and includes a Westfield shopping centre and a cinema. There are some really beautiful parks in the area with great views.

You can also walk along the shores of the Lake Illawarra and find some wonderful places to visit.
