Recognising the need for affordable and efficient bookkeeping services for small and medium businesses, Abacus Bookkeeping Centre was established in 1998 in Chatswood NSW.
Initially the business was set up to service businesses on the north shore of Sydney. However through word-of-mouth referrals our clientele demographics started to spread. Now we not only service Sydney's north shore but also greater Sydney and in 2008 we started working with clients from interstate.Â
We have bookkeeping and payroll experience in many types of industries including accountants, graphic designers & printers, restaurants, cafes, take-aways, telemarketing, IT, builders, business coaching, medical professionals, beauty & hair salons, and clubs just to name a few.
As registered BAS Agents our clients receive a four week extension for the lodgment and payment of their BAS.
Our accounting technicians are MYOB professional partner bookkeepers and members of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Australia. Our accounting/bookkeeping technicians have, at minimum, qualifications at Financial Services (Accounting) Cert. IV level, this ensures all work are carried out to a professional standard.

Yes all MYOB software sold are the latest version and the REAL thing! When you order we instruct MYOB to ship directly from their warehouse ensuring you receive the latest version.
As we have low overheads we don't add a lot of margin into the products so we can pass on the savings to our customers. It is a win-win situation.
Yes we are registered BAS Agents with the ATO. Since March 2010 anyone who charges a fee to do bookkeeping and BAS related work must be a registered BAS Agent.Registered BAS Agents must be have,1. a minimum education qualification,2. a minimum number of hours of experience with BAS related work, and3. must have adequate Professional Indemnity insurance.Anyone who is not a registered BAS Agent but still do the work and charge a fee is breaking the LAW!
Yes MYOB currently has 'LiveAccounts' which is a cloud accounting service aimed at startups and micro businesses.In late 2012 MYOB should be releasing their AccountRight Live product which is another cloud accounting system aimed at small/medium businesses. It has the same interface as the current AccountRight product so transition for those who are interested would be seamless.
