History

Singleton was not developed until the 1820s. It received a rail link in 1863. In 1955 the Hunter River flooded and Singleton was badly affected. There are many old buildings in the town making it a good place to visit for people interested in history. Singleton is in an industrial area where coal mining, amongst others, is prominent.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

As a tourist, there is a lot to visit in Singleton. There are many wineries in the area and there is an artificial lake where you can camp and go boating. The town also has three museums and one of the world’s largest sundials giving plenty for visitors to look at. For those more interested in nature, there are a number of national parks nearby.
