Rozelle is a very central, western suburb of Sydney. It is situated 4km from the Central Business District. It has a population of 7,919.

History

This suburb is called Rozelle after Rozelle Bay. Both take their name from the Rose Hill parrots that lived in some areas of Sydney at the time.

In 1904, the Rozelle Tram Depot was built. In 1958 it stopped being used, but some of the old trams are still there.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Rozelle is known for its historic pubs. There are a number of different ones to choose from including the Bald Rock Hotel and the Red Lion Hotel. The Bald Rock Hotel is a family pub that serves food and has live music. Some of the original sandstone walls are still intact.

There are a number of historic landmarks in Rozelle. White Bay Power Station is a coal-fired station that is no longer in use. The building stands out on the landscape.
