Roselands is a Sydney suburb with a population of around of 11,100 people. It is located 16km south-west of the Sydney central business district.

History

Roselands is in the Cooks River watershed and was first inhabited by Aboriginals 40,000 years ago. In 1788, British settlement began and the government began land grants around 1810.

A plant nursery called Roselands was one of the first uses for the area, followed by a golf course and, more recently, the Roselands Shopping Centre. It officially became a suburb in 1987, taking its name from the nursery which once occupied the land.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The Roselands Shopping Centre provides shoppers with a range of retail outlets, speciality stores and a large food court. The Roselands Aquatic Centre is just a short walk away on Centre Avenue. Bennett Park is a popular destination for visitors and is home to the Roselands soccer club.
