Dr J M Da Cruz encompasses a "whole body" oriented approach to oral health treatment, using relationships between oral health and general health. The human body is an interconnected dynamic system where changes in one part have implications for other parts.
The SOMA
Dr J M Da Cruz has spent many years of research, refining The Splint Orthodontic Myofunctional Appliance (SOMA). The SOMA treatment involves the gentle expansion of bony structures in the upper palate without creating stress or pain. This produces major improvements in facial patterns and straightens teeth while pacifying the nervous system while dampening down the sympathetic overdrive. An Understanding Of Our Work
We need a deep understanding of how the jaw, the atlas, the axis, the TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint), the neck and the airway relate and work together along with the rest of the body to produce a harmonious relationship.
