Pennant Hills is part of the Northern Suburbs region of Sydney, located just 25km away from the city centre. It has a population of over 7,000 people.

History

First explorations in the Pennant Hills area took place as early as 1788. They were conducted by Governor Arthur Phillip but permanent white settlement didn’t begin until the 1840s when the Northern railway line arrived.

Opinions are divided on how the suburb got its name. One romantic story is that a pennant was raised at Parramatta to send a message to a local woman that her husband had returned from his travels.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Pennant Hills is one of the main commercial areas in the Hornsby Shire with a busy shopping area located near the railway line. There are also a number of entertainment venues including Patrick’s nightclub which is a part of the Pennant Hill Hotel.
