We developed this fencing system to control kangaroos and other feral animals that were invading our crops and improved pastures, especially in dry times. It is also extremely effective for controlling livestock, especially bulls, goats and horses etc.
On our own property our preference is to space the droppers at 3.3 metres, with steel posts every ten metres. Most of our customers choose to space the droppers at 3.3 or 4 metres and up to 5 metres. There are 2 droppers between steel posts.
A standard 7 hole Westonfence dropper weighs approximately 640 grams. Its unique design this makes the Westonfence dropper a very resilient and durable fence dropper.
The droppers are made from high density polyethylene (HDPE) with 4% carbon black UV stabiliser added. It is the same material from which black poly pipe is made. The first droppers made have been in place for 12 years and are as good as the day they were put there.
Westonfence has tested its droppers in a very hot grass and pulled timber fire. The droppers that were standing in the grass were virtually untouched. One dropper that was adjacent to a burning pile of timber, although slightly damaged, retained its shape and still held the wires. Naturally the wire was ruined.
The droppers are held in place by 2 clips made from industrial spring wire. Each clip grips the wire so tightly that you have a job to move the dropper with a sledge-hammer.
One of the largest costs in constructing a fence is labour, even if you do it yourself. By utilising our 'thread all at once' system, you can dramatically reduce this cost, and erect more fence per day.
No, the droppers and clips can be used to build a fence in the traditional method or using the Westonfence 'slab' method. You may also simply attach two lengths of RHS to a box trailer or truck and feed the droppers out by hand.
To keep the costs to a minimum, products can be purchased direct from the factory.
Yes, our fencing systems are perfect for controlling and managing livestock, ensuring secure confinement and reducing the risk of escapes or harm.
