History

The land around Ocean Shores traditionally belongs to the Midjimbul and Durumbil peoples. The Brunswick Valley was first settled by Europeans in 1846. Ocean Shores was established as a town in 1969, having previously been a private estate owned by a friend of Pat Boone’s.

The Brunswick Valley is one of the most idyllic spots on the east coast, and Ocean Shores is great for exploring it. From breezy beaches to crashing waterfalls, nature lovers of all kinds are sure to find something magical. There’s also a large golf course in the town, the Kiva Spa in nearby Mullumbimby, and plenty of gourmet markets and restaurants. The Ocean Shores Arts Expo is a hugely popular annual event, and The Ocean Village Shopping Centre handles most local amenities.
