North Parramatta is situated in New South Wales and 24 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district. It has a population of over 12,500.

History

Back in the day, the Darug people made North Parramatta their home and continued to live there for many years. They called the area the food bowl because they could find lots of food from the local river and forests.

It is believed that they called the town Baramada or Burramatta, which means the place where the eels lie down. That is where the word Parramatta comes from.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

This unusual suburb is mostly made up by Lake Parramatta and The King’s School. Together, they take up almost 50% of the land in North Parramatta. However, there are over six schools in the area.

Parramatta railway station is the nearest train station to North Parramatta. You can also find bus services and get out of town by car via the roads. Lake Parramatta is also a beautiful piece of land to visit, which is based around a former reservoir.
