Welcome to Kyogle, NSW
Located in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Kyogle is within the Kyogle Council local government area. Originally established as a lumber camp on the banks of the Richmond River it is now mainly a cattle and dairy farming area. It has a population of over 2,700 people.
History
Kyogle takes its name from the Aboriginal word meaning “plains turkeys egg”. The area was once a source of timber that included red cedar and hoop pine. During January of 2008 many parts of Kyogle were flooded after heavy rains caused the Richmond River to come over its banks. Apart from the floods of 1954, this was the worst on record with water levels reaching as far as 18.1 metres.

Transport is provided by the North Coast Railway that operates between Sydney and Brisbane and several trains stop off at Kyogle station.
