FAQs
Ecological assessments are typically initiated when a requirement under the Environment Protection & Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979, Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 (TSC Act) or Native Vegetation Act is triggered by activity such as clearing. A normal ecological assessment will begin with the identification of vegetation communities, soils, habitats and potentially occurring threatened species.
Peak Land Management's director is an accredited BioBanking Assessor and is able to undertake surveys and assessments in relation to the Biodiversity Banking and Offset Scheme established under Part 7A of the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995.
These assessments are generally carried out when a rezoning of agricultural land to another purpose – usually residential, is planned. Assessments are based on the subject’s sites soils, climate, vegetation (both pasture and native), land capability, water supply, infrastructure and improvements.
