History

Glendale’s name has Scottish cultural roots. In Scottish history, “Glen” means a valley between two hills and “dale” is a term for valley. This alludes to the picturesque valley views found today throughout the area.

In modern times, the area has benefited from strong transport links by comparison to the rest of the Newcastle area. As such, it is a valuable centre of business, culture and education in the region, today.
